Finding that perfect spot for your meeting, reception, fundraiser or special occasion may be easier than you may think, especially if you take into consideration a variety of unique facilities throughout Alaska and know where to look. Hotel and convention center facilities are the perfect location for a "turn-key," professional event, but you may find it difficult to find space during the peak convention, wedding, and holiday seasons. Or, you may just desire a unique venue for a memorable experience or want to try something new. If you are flexible, there is a location and price to fit every occasion.

Some of the most popular locations to consider are museums, municipal parks, cultural and tourist attractions, theatres, golf course facilities and restaurants. But once you decide on a location, you need to be prepared to ask a lot of questions.

Depending upon the type of event and the location, these are some of the questions you need to ask the facility:

* Do they offer a commercial kitchen and if yes, can you hire your own catering ser*

* vice or is there an exclusive caterer? Do they allow liquor on the premises?

* Will you need to provide your own tables and chairs? Are audio-visual equipment and a sound system available?

You also need to consider that some locations are only available seasonally or only during certain hours. Most importantly, when considering a facility you are not familiar with, be sure to obtain a rental agreement outlining all the specifics related to the costs, facility rental rules and deposit terms in advance so there are no surprises. New on the scene since 2006 is the Wildberry Park Theatre located in midtown Anchorage off the east end of International Airport Road. There is fixed-theater seating for 123 people and a large screen with Dolby Surround Sound that is perfect for movies and computer presentations.
