Blagman v. White, 112 F.Supp.2d 534 (E.D.Va. 2000). A Muslim inmate who was participating in a hoot camp program brought a civil rights action alleging denial of equal protection, violation of his free exercise rights, and intimidation. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of the defendants. The district court held that the defendants did not deny equal protection by treating Muslims less favorably than Christian inmates, where the Muslim inmates were given new space after the inmate complained, and officials made an exception to the camp schedule to permit weekly Islamic study sessions.
