Chisolm v. Manimon, 97 F.Supp.2d 615 (D.N.J. 2000). A former jail detainee sued the official in charge of a county detention center alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The district court held that under state law, jails were "places of public accommodation" but that the jail made reasonable accommodations for the detainee's deafness and did not violate ADA.
