U.S. Supreme Court Reaffirms the Right to Limit Contributions.

The case before the Court was Nixon vs. Shrink Missouri Government PAC. In it, the political action committee claimed it would contribute more to a candidate's campaign if not constrained by state limits set in 1994. Meanwhile, the candidate the PAC was supporting for the Republican nomination for state auditor claimed he was unable to mount an effective campaign because the limit was too low.

In its recent decision, the Court upheld Missouri's limits on contributions to candidates ranging from $275 to $1,075.
