Johnson v. Daley. 117 F.Supp.2d 889 (W.D.Wis. 2000). An inmate who had prevailed in a civil rights action against a prison official moved for award of attorney fees and costs, challenging the constitutionality of the fee limits imposed by the Prison Litigation Reform Act (PLRA). The district court awarded $80,000 for attorney fees, ruling that the PLRA'S limits on attorney fees violated equal protection.
