It was only natured that I should meet Javier Sagredo. Two kindred spirits like us were bound to wind up doing something together eventually. It was the same in connecting with his photographs. My only question was what I could possibly contribute to his fine and sensitive work.

The process was simple: I concentrated on the subject of the photograph and tried to sharpen the message--to put all of my joy and love for the art into a physical language with the goal of showing the dignity of our people.

In order to create a bridge between the two art forms--photography and graphics--we modified the images electronically. When we arrived at a result that we both liked, we printed the photos in black and white and used them for the photolithograph, the cornerstone...
