Australia has had eight fatal shark attacks since 2011--more than any other country--and the government has turned to Twitter for help. Scientists have tagged 338 sharks in Western Australia with acoustic transmitters to monitor their whereabouts. When a tagged shark is about half a mile from the coast, the transmitter automatically sends a warning on a local Twitter feed (@SLSWA).
