Turning back the hands of time.

Time is fickle--most so on our bodies. Although time only can be stopped in science fiction, it is possible to turn back the clock metaphorically to a more youthful looking appearance. Caitriona Ryan, a College of Medicine dermatologist at Texas A&M University, College Station, shares health tips on how to feel and look younger:

Sunscreen. It always should be applied to your skin, rain or shine, in winter and summer. A study published in Annals of Internal Medicine found people who used SPF 30 on a daily basis could protect against both skin aging and cancer. "You should look for sunscreen containing a physical blocker--ingredients like zinc or titanium--to block out harmful UVA and UVB rays fully. It's important to remember UVA rays can come through windows. Even if it's cloudy, there is always UV radiation."

Lotion up. No one wants dry, cracked skin--and not properly moisturizing can age a person significantly. "Lotion is especially important for those who suffer from dry skin. As we get older, certain areas, like the lower legs, tend to dry out faster." Ryan indicates that moisturizers containing ceramide are the most effective way to rejuvenate dry skin. "It's also best to apply moisturizer within two minutes of towel drying the skin."
