Turbine Federal Credit Union announces merger with Self-Help.

Turbine Federal Credit Union, based in Greenville, this week announced a merger with Self-Help Credit Union, headquartered in Durham, N.C. The merger was approved by both credit union boards and by state and federal credit union regulators, according to a news release.

Greenville Gas Turbine Employees Federal Credit Unionwas formedin 1976 to provide General Electric employees in Greenville with access to affordable financial services, the release said.

In 2015, the board of directors for the credit union officially changed the name to Turbine Federal Credit Union to position the organization for future growth, according to the release. Since its inception, the credit union has expanded to serve not only the employees of GE in the Greenville area but their contractors, vendors and family of existing members.

Today Turbine has approximately 2,900 members and $26 million in assets.
