I was recently alerted to your article, "Daunting Challenges Face Those Waging Sub-terranean Warfare." (February 2007, page 20)

I was very surprised that you had no reference whatsoever to the Underground Facilities Analysis Center. The UFAC has been in existence for 10 years. We are sponsored by the Director of National Intelligence and administered by the Defense Intelligence Agency. Our center is dedicated to identifying, understanding and ultimately defeating the strategic and tactical use of underground facilities by adversarial state and non-state actors. The UFAC is comprised of elements from the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Defense Threats Reduction Agency, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency.
