Bigge Defense LLC, in Bath, Maine, has developed a reconnaissance and surveillance vehicle that could help improve perimeter security at military bases, according to the firm's owner, Mark Bigge.

The vehicle--mobile thermal perimeter security system, or TIPSS--is a Humvee truck, equipped with infrared imagers, night vision and closed-circuit TV, Bigge explained. These sensors provide an extended line of sight, enabling TIPPS to see out to 10 kilometers, Bigge said.
