TRINIDAD-CRIME-Nigerian to re-appear in court on charges of larceny trick and money laundering.


A 48-year-old Nigerian will re-appear in a Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after he was remanded into custody on charges of larceny against an 82-year-old woman as well as money laundering.

Charleson Obasoanya was charged with larceny trick of sums totalling TT$128,500 (One TT dollar-US$0.16 cents) and two counts of money laundering of sums totalling TT$48,000, when he appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed in the Port of Spain Magistrates' Court.

Police said that the 82-year-old woman had in July 2019 responded to a series of foreign phone calls and messages from a man pretending to be her long lost God-son from the United Kingdom.
