NOTE FROM THE EDITORS

The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology dedicates this issue to Bard R. Ferrall, who passed away on February 22, 2005. Since his first contribution to Issue 88-3, published in 1998, Bard wrote the Recent Books section in every one of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology's twenty-one subsequent issues. He read and provided summaries for 113 books ranging in topic from police brutality and designer drugs to military tribunals and the Mafia.

In addition to his contributions to the Journal, Bard was a beloved member of the greater Northwestern University School of Law community. As a part of the circulation and reference staff at the Law School's Pritzker Legal Research Center, he was sought after by students for his patience and persistence; no problem was too great or too small for Bard to give it his undivided...
