You are visiting New York City in the middle of December to see the

Rockefeller Center Tree; it’s cold out, so you decide to purchase a hat. You

purchase a beanie from a street vendor with the slogan “I  NY.” What you may

not realize is that the beanie might infringe on the State of New York’s federally

registered Individuals and corporate entities are not the

only ones to own trademarks—numerous municipalities, regions, states, and

national governments are also the registered owners of trademarks with the

Trademark Protection

A trademark is any word, name, symbol, or device, or any combination thereof,

used to identify and distinguish the owner’s goods and services from those

manufactured, sold, or oered by others and to indicate the source of the
