I left Detroit on September 26, before the financial crisis hit the United States and then the world. My first stop was Pune, India, where I had 15 business meetings. I then went to Mumbai, India for another 10 business meetings. I met with many Indian companies I already have a relationship with, as well as many new companies to explain our services, outline the business opportunities that exist in the Detroit Region and listen to the clients to learn how I could help them build their business in the Detroit Region.
From Mumbai, I went to Taipei, Taiwan for nine business meetings and to participate in TAITRONICS, the largest electronics industry show in Taiwan, which also had a special section for automotive electronics. I met with 25 new companies at TAITRONICS to make them aware of our services and the opportunities in the Detroit Region.
From Taiwan, I traveled to the Hangzhou Bay area of China where my first stop was Ningbo. During my short trip to Ningbo, I worked a regional auto parts show (CAPA Fair--China Ningbo International Auto Parts and Accessories Trading Fair 2008) where I met with 49 new companies to promote the Detroit Region.
From Ningbo I took the train to Hangzhou for six business meetings, and then I took the train to Shanghai for three days of meetings.
In Shanghai I completed 18 business meetings, which is quite challenging when you consider the traffic, congestion and the size of the Shanghai metropolitan area. The area I visited in China during this Business...
