Atlantic City Alliance Atlantic City Alliance Launches $30 Million-Plus Tourism Campaign . The Atlantic City Alliance (ACA), the not-for-profit group formed last year to promote tourism to Atlantic City, unveiled plans for a major tourism rebranding campaign, the largest marketing effort in the cityOs history. The campaign is backed by $30 million a year collected from Atlantic City casino resorts for the next five years. The New Jersey legislature voted to create ACA and the marketing fund in legislation passed last year. ACA will debut an integrated media campaign on Monday, April 16, aimed at rebuilding Atlantic City's reputation, revitalizing its tourism brand, and repositioning the destination after it lost an estimated six million visitors over the last five years. The goal of the campaign is to attract a wider visitor base beyond those people interested in gaming and extend the average length of stay, which is now less than 24 hours. Atlantic City is seeking to go beyond being perceived as a gaming center to become a year-round destination with diverse offerings. OTransforming Atlantic CityOs gaming and tourism economy and developing it into a world-class destination and resort is a vital and ongoing commitment of this Administration,O said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. OWith this newly integrated tourism campaign, there is finally a concerted effort to property fund Atlantic City marketing initiatives to attract visitors to the region, a need that has gone unmet for far too long. Through our continued collaboration and partnership with all stakeholders, weOre beginning to see the Atlantic City of the future take hold.O The new advertising and marketing campaign will focus on attracting visitors in the Northeast from Washington, D.C. up to Boston and out through Pennsylvania. New ads will remind potential visitors in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore that Atlantic City, a destination where the rules are different from everyday life, is just a short drive away. Gaming will not be featured in the ads, which will focus instead on Atlantic CityOs entertainment, fine dining, luxury accommodations, nightlife, beach and famed Boardwalk. The ads end with a call to action urging visitors to ODo Anything. Do Everything.O in Atlantic City. The new campaign complements efforts by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) to reposition the image of Atlantic City and improve visitor experiences by appealing to fun-seeking adult consumers. OThe CRDAOs Master Plan calls for activation of the Boardwalk, and activation of the city through new development, attractions and possibilities,O said CRDA Executive Director John Palmieri. OWe are making Atlantic City a better destination every day and through this campaign are inviting visitors, investment and opportunity to be a part of the next chapter in Atlantic City history.O The integrated media campaign, developed by Euro RSCG New York, includes ad buys across a variety of traditional and new media platforms, including print, broadcast, digital and out-of-home executions, such as billboard and commuter rail advertising. Also included are two 30-second TV commercials entitled ODo AnythingO and ODo Proximity.O In addition, a new website, www.DoAtlanticCity.com, will go live on April 16 to supplement the larger campaign. It will eventually feature trip-planning tools to help visitors select from a wide range of lodging, dining, shopping and entertainment options. OWith travel options abounding in the Northeast, Atlantic City consistently faces competition when consumers are deciding where to travel,O said Liza Cartmell, president of ACA. OToday, we are making Atlantic City history by launching this campaign to show off the wonderful, diverse elements which our city has to offer. We are confident that the advertisements and larger marketing campaign will encourage increased visitation and reinvigorate the local tourism industry.O May 17, 2012
