TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION (TSA)
Protect the Nation's transportation systems
to ensure freedom of movement for people
Provide the most effective transportation
security in the most efficient way as a high
performing counterterrorism organization.
Integrity. Innovation. Team spirit.
The TSA was formed immediately
following the tragedies of September
11. As a component agency of
the Department of Homeland Security,
TSA is responsible for security of the nation's
transportation systems. With TSA
state, local, and regional partners, the organization
oversees security for the highways,
railroads, buses, mass transit systems, marine
ports, and airports. People from Alaska
to Puerto Rico are employed through
TSA to ensure that travel--by plane, train,
automobile, or ferry--is safe and secure.

FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
William Craig Fugate
Administrator of FEMA
FEMA is the central point of contact within the federal government for a wide range of emergency planning and response activities. It works closely with all levels of government and the emergency management community to improve the nation's state of civil preparedness and ability to respond effectively to crises of all kinds.
FEMA is headquartered in Washington, DC, with regional and area offices across the country, and the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center, National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD, and the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL. Often FEMA works in partnership with other organizations that are part of the nation's emergency management team. These partners include state and local emergency management agencies, other federal agencies, the American Red Cross and other non-governmental entities, including the faith-based community.
