The TSA was formed immediately

following the tragedies of September

11. As a component agency of

the Department of Homeland Security,

TSA is responsible for security of the nation's

transportation systems. With TSA

state, local, and regional partners, the organization

oversees security for the highways,

railroads, buses, mass transit systems, marine

ports, and airports. People from Alaska

to Puerto Rico are employed through

TSA to ensure that travel--by plane, train,

automobile, or ferry--is safe and secure.

FEMA is the central point of contact within the federal government for a wide range of emergency planning and response activities.
