Midwestern artists partnered with the Tamms Year Ten coalition to protest torture at Tamms supermax prison in southern Illinois. Jesse Graves, a Milwaukee artist, developed the mud stencil, and thirty volunteers plastered walls and sidewalks around Chicago.

Amnesty International recently found Tamms "may breach international standards for humane treatment." The prison has drawn numerous lawsuits alleging inmate mistreatment.
