Update on the Latest Programs and Events in Your
Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section
Section Conference
Thank you to so many of you who took the time to attend
the spectacular and memorable Section Conference in
Washington, D.C., this May at the Capital Hilton! We were
thrilled to celebrate over 90 years of TIPS and 10 years of
the Section Conference with you! We were inspired by the
incredible programming covering a variety of substantive legal
issues, from the 18 former Section Chairs in attendance, many
of whom gave their best trial advice in the “Trial Masters:
Trial Preparations from Our TIPS Chairs Emeritus” panel to
the “Justice Sotomayer: Her First 15 Years and the SCOTUS
Road Ahead” panel to the “Ethically Leveraging Generative
AI Tools to Boost Productivity” panel.
At Thursday evening’s gala at the Smithsonian’s National
Museum of African American History and Culture, we were
honored to hear remarks from U.S. Supreme Court Justice
Sonia Sotomayor as she accepted the Lifetime Liberty Achieve-
ment Award, Judge J. Michelle Childs as she received the Liberty
Achievement Award, and TIPS Associate Director Janet
Hummons as she received the Andrew C. Hecker Memor ial
Award. Following the awards, the award recipients regaled the
audience with a reside chat conducted by TIPS Chair Chris
Nolan. This was an unforgettable evening and one we will not
forget anytime soon!

The networking events were tremendous, giving us
opportunities to catch up with friends and colleagues and
make new connections. They also oered opportunities to
honor our colleagues. At Wednesday’s welcome reception,
Christine Davis was honored with the Kirsten Christophe
Memorial Award; and at Friday’s networking luncheon, we
were delighted to recognize our friend and colleague Rick
DiLiberto with the Edmund S. Muskie Pro Bono Service
Award for his considerable pro bono and public service
eorts throughout the years.
