Update on the Latest Programs and Events in Your

Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section

CLE

The inaugural ADR Summit, held on September 16, 2025,

at DePaul University College of Law, was a triumph with

incredible programming and speakers. Topics ranged from

“What Plaintis, Defendants, and In-House Attorneys Want

from Their Mediators” to “Double Blind Mediations” to

“Mediating Insurance Coverage Cases,” to name a few, and

were well received by attendees. The energy and enthusiasm

at this f‌irst-time conference were palpable, and the sponsor-

ship goal was exceeded by over two times.

The Fidelity Law Fall Conference, held October 9–10,

2025, at the InterContinental Hotel in Chicago, was excel-

lent! Attendees received a copy of the new Moder n Fidelity

Claim Deskbook: Understanding the Impact of Technology, on

which the program was based, and gained insights from

industry-leading f‌idelity bond/crime policy and technology

experts who explored the impact of emerging technology

on current claims. Presentations evaluated the intersection

between electronic crime schemes and insuring agreement

coverages; educated on basic technological and computer

components, concepts, and principles; and highlighted under-

writing and claims handling advancements in light of the

increasingly digital world.

The Aviation and Aerospace Law Conference, Finding

Smooth Air in Turbulent Times, was held October 23–24, 2025,

at the Royal Sonesta Washington, D.C. We were thrilled to

be back in our nation’s capital, where we explored recent

developments in aviation and space law. Fresh perspectives

were featured on the Federal Tort Claims Act and the panoply

of accident investigation authorities in the context of recent

events and “turbulence” in the industry. We were delighted to

hear luncheon keynote speaker Mark C. Fava, former aide to

a Navy admiral, retired Navy captain, career aviation lawyer,

vice president at a Fortune 100 company, and author of Les-

sons from the Admiral: Naval Wisdom and Sea Stories for Leaders.

Fall Meeting

We were delighted to welcome TIPS members for a produc-

tive Fall Meeting, October 16–18, 2025, at the Hilton San

Diego Bayfront, to plan for the year ahead. In advance of

the Fall Meeting, we were pleased to continue the Insurance

In-House Counsel and Professionals Summit that launched

at the previous Fall Meeting and featured important topics

concerning litigation funding and the intersection of insur-

ance, artif‌icial intelligence (AI), and the law. In addition, there

were excellent discussions at the breakout sessions on claims,

coverage, and public policy.

Awards

Congratulations to Gail Vaughn Ashworth, who was pre-

sented with the Andrew C. Hecker Memorial Award at the

opening plenary session for her demonstrated leadership,

outreach, enthusiasm, professionalism, and pride in TIPS and

its accomplishments, and to Holly M. Polglase, who received

the much-deserved James K. Carroll Leadership Award at

the Saturday evening event for her demonstrated leadership

qualities in service to the Section.
