Speaking of progress, I have been updating you (though this column) on FEI's recent strategic planning initiatives. To review: FEI recruited a committee to lead the effort of developing a roadmap for the future of the association and, as recommended by the Office of the Chair (OOC), FEI's board of directors has approved the direction and intent of the strategic plan.

OOC leadership has reviewed the plan with the National Chapter Leadership Council (NCLC), via webcast, with more than 50 chapter leaders in attendance. The next step--development and implementation of the plan--involved additional dialogue with chapter leaders at the Fall Area Leadership Board (ALB) meetings to discuss "how can chapter leadership work to implement the plan at the grassroots level?"

Also, future planning and activities for FEI committees and staff will be reflective of these goals and we'll all contribute to the organization's progress by thinking strategically and incorporating the plan into our efforts.

Listed here are the five goals in the plan. They are also on FEI's Website, "about" section: www.financialexecutives.org/about.

* Goal A: Positioning and Promotion of the FEI Brand. FEI will achieve recognition among key stakeholders as the leading organization for senior-level financial executives.

* Goal B: Global Presence and Thought Leadership. FEI will achieve expanded global presence and thought leadership.

* Goal C: Becoming a Leading Electronically Linked Community. FEI will be a leading electronically linked community that effectively and efficiently facilitates information/knowledge sharing, networking and advocacy for local and global users.

* Goal D: Delivering Superior Value through a Unique and Rewarding Experience. FEI will provide a unique and rewarding experience to members and their organizations that is responsive to their needs, interests and expectations.

* Goal E: Alignment of Structures, Processes and Culture with Purpose & Vision. FEI will align its structure, processes and culture with its purpose and vision to enhance organizational governance and effectiveness.
