Farmers Market Promotion Program (USDA)
Scope: The Agriculture Department’s Agricultural
Marketing Service seeks applications for the Farmers
Market Promotion Program to develop, coordinate
and expand direct producer-to-consumer markets to
help increase access to and availability of regionally
produced agricultural products.
Deadline: May 11, 2020.
Funds: $13.5 million total for up to 60 awards ranging
from $50,000 to $500,000. A 25% match is required.
Eligibility: Domestic entities owned, operated and
located within the 50 U.S. states, the District of
Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth
of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of
Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Areas: USDA said funding supports projects that
develop, coordinate and expand direct producer-to-
consumer markets to help increase access to and
availability of locally and regionally produced agricultural
products by developing, coordinating, expanding and
providing outreach, training and technical assistance to
domestic farmers markets, roadside stands, community-
supported agriculture programs, agritourism activities,
online sales or other direct producer-to-consumer
(including direct producer-to-retail, direct producer-to-
restaurant and direct producer-to-institutional marketing)
market opportunities.

FMPP-G-20-0002
Acer Access and Development Program (USDA)
Scope: The Agriculture Department’s Agricultural
Marketing Service seeks applications for the Acer
Access and Development Program to support the efforts
of states, tribal governments and research institutions to
promote the domestic maple syrup industry.
Deadline: May 11, 2020.
Funds: $6 million total for up to 25 awards of up to
$500,000.
Eligibility: States and Native American tribal
governments.
Areas: USDA said supported activities include:
promotion of research and education related to maple
syrup production; promotion of natural resource
sustainability in the maple syrup industry; market
promotion for maple syrup and maple-sap products; and
encouragement of owners and operators of privately
held land containing species of trees in the genus Acer
to initiate or expand maple-sugaring activities on the
land, or to voluntarily make the land available, including
by lease or other means, for access by the public for
maple-sugaring activities.

Tick-Borne Disease Career Development Award
(DOD)
Scope: The Defense Department’s U.S. Army Medical
Research Acquisition Activity seeks applications for
the Tick-Borne Disease (TBD) Career Development
Award announcement to support independent, early-
career investigators in their efforts to conduct impactful
research with the mentorship of an experienced TBD
researcher, thus providing an opportunity to obtain
the funding, guidance and experience necessary for
productive, independent careers at the forefront of TBD
research.
Deadline: Pre-applications, May 27, 2020; proposals,
Aug. 27, 2020.
Funds: Approximately $1.44 million total for three Career
Development Award applications.
Eligibility: Unrestricted.
Areas: DOD said applications must address at least one
of the following specic focus areas in Lyme disease
and other TBDs with emphasis on reducing public
health burden: diagnosis—sensitive and specic direct
detection diagnostic assay for Borrelia and/or other
tick-borne pathogens; treatment—therapeutic strategies
for treating acute and persistent TBDs; prevention—
drugs, antibodies or other novel approaches that can be
administered and/or utilized prophylactically to prevent
human TBDs; and pathogenesis—pathogenesis of
persistent clinical manifestations associated with Lyme
disease and other TBDs.
