I was disappointed that Amitabh Pal didn't ask any questions regarding the brutal regime that existed in Tibet before the Chinese invasion in 1950 (Interview with the Dalai Lama, January issue). People lived as impoverished serfs in a rigid caste system. The Dalai Lama's views have evolved in a democratic direction during his period in exile.
