TRIAD AMERICA CORP - 1987

With financial pressures mounting, Triad America Corp. files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, halting its plans for a three-city-block development featuring two 40-story office towers, residential buildings, hotel and commercial space, and an ice rink.

JORDANELLE - 1987

Construction begins on the controversial, $400-million Jordanelle dam and reservoir with the relocation of segments of U.S. 40 and U.S. 189, which will be covered by the new reservoir.

MOUNTAIN FUEL SUPPLY CO, - 1988

Mountain Fuel Supply Co. completes construction on a pipeline to bring natural gas to residents of Central and Southwestern Utah for the first time. With nearly 300 miles of pipe, the supply line serves communities from Indianola to St. George.

TOOELE ARMY DEPOT - 1989

The U.S. Army decides to build a facility at the Tooele Army Depot to destroy the base's stockpile of aging chemical weapons onsite, rather than shipping the dangerous chemicals to another location

UTAH JAZZ - 1990

Larry H. Miller, owner of the Utah Jazz, obtains a $66 million loan to begin construction of a 20,400-seat arena for the team.

BLACK DIAMOND EQUIPMENT - 1990

Mountaineering equipment company Black Diamond Equipment announces plans to relocate to Park City from California. The company's plans include building a new manufacturing and distribution facility in the Silver Creek Center business park.

HILL AIR FORCE BASE -1991

Due to cuts in military spending, Hill Air Force Base trims its civilian workforce by approximately 1,500 positions.

UTAH VOTERS - 1992
