I read with GREAT interest the story by Cathie Beck ("Primed for a visibility boost," April) regarding the record-breaking $19 million campaign to market Colorado and the question regarding using an outside agency to create the campaign. I equally appreciated seeing the actual ads that have been used to market our fair state outside its borders. This sets an image that all Coloradans should be very proud of.

However, I believe the greater issue is not who has won the account but how development is managed in our state. The apparent lack of an overall urban plan for the Front Range that takes into consideration our state's tourism has created massive urban sprawl (not the image portrayed in our advertising) that is all too familiar as you drive along I-70, I-25, and U.S. Hwy. 285 to name a few. At times, it is very difficult to know where is the subject seen in the ads.
