Thomas G. Manolakas, CPA, died June 4, 2004. He was 57.

Manolakas was of counsel at Boutin, Dentino, Gibson & DiGuisto in Sacramento and an instructor for the California CPA Education Foundation for more than 25 years.

"Tom was a great guy, a great tax guy, a great teacher and he was great fun," says Jacqueline Patterson, CPA, an Education Foundation instructor who was a student of Manolakas' at USC. "He was a mentor."

He received the Education Foundation's awards for Instructor Excellence in 1987, Meritorious Service in 1992 and Outstanding Course Material in 1997.

"Tom was extremely attentive to people's interests and needs," says Gary McBride, a professor at California State University Hayward. "He was one of the most popular speakers for the Education Foundation."
