Thomas D. Flynn, who became a Director of the NBER in 1967 representing the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as its president, died on April 12 at age 90. He has been a Director Emeritus of the NBER since 1968.

Flynn was a 1935 graduate of Princeton University with a degree in economics. He received his M.B.A. in accounting from the Columbia Graduate School of Business in 1938. After a short stint on the staff of the Federal Trade Commission, Flynn joined the accounting firm Arthur Young & Company in 1940. He rose to senior partner before being named vice chairman of the firm's management...
