Civilians who normally do not wear body armor, but feel the need for protection, are the target customers for San Diego-based Forcefield Corporation. The company has developed a family of lightweight carrying cases that can double as body armor. Variations of the cases include shoulder bags, backpacks and computer carrying cases.

The manufacturer cautioned that the bags are not intended to replace traditional body armor.
