Dear Progressive reader,

Last year at this time, a presidential election had been held, but the votes were not yet certified. At the same time, a pandemic was raging, but a vaccine had not yet been approved. And in December 2019, as the United Nations annual climate summit was being held, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres would say he was disappointed, and that world leaders had missed an opportunity to be more ambitious on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and financing for poorer countries.

Since then, on lanuary 6,2021, an angry mob stormed the U.S. Capitol, in an attempt to overturn an election. Donald Trump was impeached for a second time by the U.S. House of Representatives. Irate parents, fueled by rightwing funders, are disrupting school board meetings and threatening teachers and public officials over masking rules and history curriculum.

But through it all, The Progressive has brought you accurate, fact-based, and trustworthy news and commentary about the issues of our time. Since 1909, we've been here, through challenging times, giving voice to progressive movements across the country. And we will continue to be here, thanks to your support.
