Theodore Rex truly grabbed and pulled me inside of its tales of facing challenges head on and sticking to your instincts. Teddy Roosevelt tackled innumerable challenges without wavering, whether it was leading the charge to build the Panama Canal or fighting with the "Big Railroad" Roosevelt lost many battles but trudged on to win many wars by always facing them head on and going with his gut.

Each challenge he faced made me think about how I would handle the situation. As a small business owner, I awake not knowing the challenges I might face--a battle or a war. The following quote from the book truly demonstrates the way 1 think about leadership:

"It is not the critic who counts. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face Is marred by dust, sweat, and blood; who strives valiantly, who errs, who comes short again and again.
