Gary Vaynerchuk previously wrote a best-selling book titled Crush It. That book was entertaining and motivational. While I thought Crush It was more entertaining, The Thank You Economy contains some interesting insights and detail worth noting. Here are a few things I thought I'd highlight:

Social Media Makes Word-Of-Mouth Matter Again:

Vaynerchuk tells the tale of the old-school local business that did everything possible to make customers happy. Happy customers talked about being happy and the good word spread. You'd build a customer base over time and have an excellent long term ROI. While this concept has never grown old, Vaynerchuk rightfully asserts that in the recent past, businesses have lowered word-of-mouth down the priority list. Social media has changed all of that back.
