The Sedona Conference[R] has established Working Group 11 (WG11) to focus on data security and privacy liability. The group's mission is to identify and comment on trends in data security and privacy law so that organizations may better prepare for and respond to data breaches. It will also provide guidance regarding data security and privacy class-action developments, including liability, damages, and class certification issues.

WG11 will be guided by a steering committee composed of representatives of the various stakeholders involved in the data security and privacy liability area. Anyone interested in this subject is welcome to join the full group, which will meet virtually, with limited face-to-face meetings throughout the year, the first of which is scheduled for November 5-7...
