The entire staff at Just Us Books applauds the staff of Black Issues Book Review for including the extremely important article on blacks in publishing, "Large and In Charge," in your January-February 2006 issue. It is so important that we document our journey as a people in all the areas in which we travel, including book publishing. Too often, those who pave the way and who are not afforded a forum to be noticed go unrecognized. Your timely and thorough coverage addressed this problem in the area of publishing.

It was heartwarming to see those pioneers who have made their transition included, namely Glen Thompson and Toni Trent Parker. When Toni was ill we talked about the long and hard road we have traveled to promote an appreciation for quality multicultural books for children and to make these books available in the marketplace...
