After reading Nancy Dwight and Mickey Edwards's article ("Bush Becomes a Moderate, Really," September), I have to conclude that they are engaged in wishful thinking rather than rational analysis. What behavior of the administration to date would make them think that Bush would make such a radical change in the way he governs? If he acted like he had a mandate in 2000 when a questionable Supreme Court decision declared the winner of a disputed election whose popular vote he had lost, it seems more likely that he would take reelection as an endorsement of how he has...
