Indiana's business statistics continue to fare better than those of the nation as a whole, but they're not as dynamic as they've been through much of the economic downturn.

The state's jobless rate in June dropped from 6.3 percent to 6.2 percent before seasonal adjustment, but the state usually sees a much greater seasonal drop. Just six of the state's 13 major metropolitan areas saw their unadjusted rates decline in June, and five saw the rates increase. Consequently, the adjusted unemployment rate for Indiana increased to 6.7 percent in June, up from 6.6 percent.
