When Sao Paulo-born guitarist Bellinati began a serious investigation of his country's guitar music, he quickly found himself drawn to the work of the late Annibal Augusto Sardinha. Better known by his nickname, Garoto, the composer had created an enormous body of compositions in the 1930s and '40s that had all but been forgotten when the bossa nova era of the 1960s began.
