Few people know the country's highways and byways (and, just as important, their rest stops) better than those who drive for a living. In Atlas Van Lines' annual King of the Road survey, the company's van operators sound off on their most and least favorites. Seven fast travel tidbits from this year's results include:

* Florida's rest stops were voted best in the U.S.

* Interstate 70 through Colorado and Utah ranks as the most scenic highway stretch, followed closely by Interstate 90. The latter is the nation's longest interstate, running from Boston to Seattle. Areas in Montana and Idaho are rated the most scenic.

* Interstate 10 through the Southwest was voted the most boring stretch of highway in the country.

* Van operators believe the safest highways in the U.S. are, in descending order, Interstate 80, Interstate 10, and Interstate 95.

* The Subway sandwich chain is their favorite fast-food stop.
