The Best Winter ADVENTURES IN UTAH (FROM A LOCAL'S PERSPECTIVE).

People always ask me why I moved to Utah, and the answer is, in part, because of the recreation. I don't think, compared with Utah's standards, that I'm particularly outdoorsy, but I do love to get outside. My husband and I own a camper van, and we "pop the top" all over the Wasatch and Uintah mountains.

Occasionally he'll force me down a double black diamond ski slope, or coax me up a mountain on my mountain bike-lured by the apres ski accouterments I know are waiting for me. But for the most part, we explore. I love an adventurous hike through Wasatch Mountain State Park followed by a drink at the Heber Social Club. I adore what I affectionately call "the saint lakes:" Mary, Martha, and Catherine paired with the perfect picnic spread.

Utah is full of every possible thing a person could want to do, and even in the winter, there are some especially magical adventures to take. Here are a few of my favorites.

  1. CATCH SUNDANCE FILMS IN SALT LAKE CITY (NOT IN PARK CITY)

    I recommend getting an Airbnb in the 9th and 9th area (close to The Tower Theater) or downtown (close to the Broadway Theater). Both are excellent venues, and all others are just a short Uber ride away. Make some meals of your own at the Airbnb and make sure you grab dinner at Current or The Rest. Make your reservations in advance and you'll have everything needed for the perfect Sundance weekend.
