The best and worst places to live.

PositionGRAPH: INTERNATIONAL

One of the most revealing statistics you'll, find in this year's World Affairs issue is each nation's Human Development Index, or HDI. It measures the "livability" of a nation by combining several, pieces of data: life expectancy, education levels, and average income. HDI is measured on a scale of 0 to 1 (1 is the highest). The higher a nation's HDI value, the longer people there can expect to live, the longer they stay in school, and the wealthier they are likely to be.
