Jean Saelens, CPA, is vice president and corporate controller at True Value Company. She is responsible for accounting and reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax and other transactional areas. She has been corporate controller since 2011, becoming a vice president in August, 2014. Saelens joined True Value in 2008 as the logistics controller, a role she redefined from accounting function to business partner.

I volunteer primarily through my children's activities including charitable events, school activities, sports teams and scouts (including leadership roles).

Leisure and Stress Management

Exercise daily in the morning during the week, even if for a short time (it helps to wake up). Long walks on the weekends.

Time Management

I plan my week out both personally and professionally. On Sunday, I review the kids' calendar to ensure I have everything covered. I also review my work schedule for the week as well.
