Thank you, Chris Hedges!(WE HEAR YOU) (Letter to the editor)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that The Progressive reprinted Chris Hedges's Fighting Bob Fest speech, "Starting a Revolution" (November issue).

Hedges was most remarkable for his clarity and fearlessness in denouncing the Israeli attack on Gaza over the summer as state-sponsored terror and murder.

Please note that progressive icons Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Tammy Baldwin were squarely among the too Senators "trotted out like AIPAC wind-up dolls to cheer on the Israeli bombing," as Hedges put it.

In fact, Sanders and Baldwin, who spoke at Fighting Bob Fest, were met by protesters carrying pictures of the bloody human carnage in Gaza paid for by Congress with our tax dollars.

Hedges's comments energized those of us who protested.

The overwhelmingly favorable response to those comments and to the protest itself also revealed an ever-expanding gulf between the grassroots base of the progressive movement and most of its leaders, who still think that Progressive Except on Palestine is an acceptable position, at least as long as pro-Israel money keeps flowing into Democratic Party campaigns.
