Regarding "The Need for Statutory Change to the Right to Terminate Residential Leases" by Roshani M. Gunewardene (January), I respect the efforts of Bar members to present points of view on the law, but I hope that our social (and legal) system never evolves to the point where, absent a contractual extension right, a tenant can unilaterally declare at the end of the term (regardless of advance notice) that they choose to stay, and the landlord is forced to let them remain.
There are certainly many perfectly performing tenants who would like to remain, but what the writer does not recognize...
