USTOMERS VVHO CITE MOBILE AS THEIR PREFERRED BANKING METHODS increased to 10 percent this year, up from 8 percent a year ago, according to an ABA survey.

While the Internet remains the most popular banking method at 31 perccnt, it declined from the 39 percent reported last year. Also up were branches, 21 percent (18 percent in 2013); and ATMs, 14 percent (11 percent in 2013).

The annual survey of 1,000 U.S. adults was conducted for ABA by 1psos Public Affairs, an independent market research firm, Aug. 7-12, 2014. This is the sixth year in a row that customers have named the Internet as their favorite way of conducting their banking business, albeit by a slimmer margin than last year.
