PositionTax Executives Institute's new tax counsel

TEI welcomed a new member to its staff in February. On February 2, Daniel B. De Jong joined Eli Dicker, Jeffery Rasmussen, and Mary Lou Fahey on TEI's legal staff. As a Tax Counsel in our Washington, D.C. offices, Dan will focus mainly on state and local tax issues, as well as assisting with the work of the Canadian Commodity Tax Committee and other staff functions.

Most recently, Dan worked for Ernst & Young LLP in its McLean, Virginia, office just outside Washington, D.C. During his five years there, he spent time in all areas of the tax practice including return preparation, tax provision review and preparation, and on a slew of other federal and international issues. The majority of his time, however, was spent in the State and Local Tax practice assisting clients with a wide variety of State issues, and it is that experience that attracted TEI to him.

"Dan's combination of technical and client relations skills makes him a perfect fit at TEI," according to Eli Dicker, who as Chief Tax Counsel leads the Institute's advocacy staff. Asked to comment on Dan, a former client and TEI member, Robert Lee of Software AG, said, "Over the years of working closely with Dan while he was employed by E&Y, I found him to be thorough in the services he rendered, as well as trustworthy in his recommendations ....
