One of TEI's operational priorities for the year is to conduct a membership satisfaction survey. Updating a questionnaire last used five years ago, this year's survey is designed not only to measure members' satisfaction with TEI programs and priorities, but also to assess their needs in respect of education, networking, and advocacy. The 2002-2003 survey expands on the 1998 version in key ways, most notably by adding questions that will help TEI hone its communications efforts and Internet presence.

Notably, the 2002-2003 survey marks a move forward in how TEI is taking advantage of email and the Internet. Working with Readex, Inc., an independent research company, TEI emailed all members with a link to an online survey instrument inviting their response. Follow-up messages were sent to members who had not yet responded within a few days encouraging them to complete the survey.
