Teen drivers reflect on dangers.

At my school, we lost two girls in one year to car accidents ("Putting the Brakes on Teen Drivers," 1/10/03). To help solve this problem, the mothers of the gifts who died have started classes to teach proper driving techniques. But I still think 16 is too young for an unrestricted license. Teens are more likely to have accidents because they lack experience. The deaths of my classmates have shown me the pain of car accidents. Kids need to understand that anything can happen when they get behind the wheel.

Cara Concannon Cincinnatt, Ohio Teenagers driving at 14! I think this is way too young. Some people are just entering puberty at this age and are really not mature enough to drive. I think the driving-permit age should be 16 and the permanent-license age 18. By then, I think teenagers will be able to realize what a responsibility it is to drive.
