Technical certification program drawing record numbers.

Record-breaking numbers of professionals continue to seek certification by NDIA's Technical Information Division, according to a just released report. In 2005, 172 individuals took manager, specialist and apprentice examinations under the division' s professional certification program. That's up from 2004, when 162 candidates were tested. Of the 172 who were examined in 2005, about 70 percent passed.

The number of NASA employees and contractors participating in the program increased from less than one percent of the candidates in 2004 to 17 percent in 2005. The division's executive committee is considering the possibility of offering the certification program in Australia.

Among managers, Martha Lofton scored highest, while Nancy Hill scored tops among the specialists. Both are from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.
