North Carolina's tech industry accounts for 12.4% of gross state product, according to the N.C. Tech Association's 2020 industry report. The state's 266,570 technology workers in 2018 represented 6% of the state's jobs while accounting for 11% of wages and salaries. North Carolina added 700 tech establishments, bringing the total number to 20,070.
