North Carolina's 254,200 technology workers represent 5.9% of total jobs in the state but 11% of wage earnings and sales, according to the N.C. Technology Association's 2019 industry report. Other key findings from the study include:

No. 1 North Carolina's rank among states for women in technology. Women represent 35.6% of the state's tech workforce. Only Washington, D.C, ranks higher at 39.5%.
