In this volume are collected and republished some seventeen of K. V. Zvelebil's early papers on Dravidian linguistics, spanning a period from 1953 to 1967. Many were published originally in Archfv Orientalni, a journal not universally available in this country. The longer papers include "The Enclitic Vowels (-a, -e, -o) in Modern Tamil" (1954), "Some Remarks on the Articulation of the 'Cerebral' Consonants in Indian Languages" (with O.
